VO2 Max Calculator

VO2 max is the calculated definition which reflects and individual’s aerobic capacity by measuring the rate and ability of the body to utilise oxygen during exercise. As such a VO2 max assessment is considered the definitive aerobic fitness test, providing a good predictor of success in endurance racing.

This figure is expressed as millilitres of oxygen per kilogram of body weight per minute and to measure it accurately, it involves a graduated period of physical activity to push the aerobic energy system incrementally to its limits, in the case for rowers. (also see Step Test)

The values differ by 40-60% between Men and Women, and other factors such as age, and training level are also taken into consideration when calculating. Rowing is also considered to be one of the best exercise activities for improving your VO2 max. Elite rower's VO2 max results are amongst the highest recorded between top athletes.
